be more wholehearted

Here’s permission to be a little softer. We’ll unlearn living with tight fists around the ways we think things should be. Instead, living with hands open to receive what God gives and give generously out of what has been given. To approach God as whole, feeling beings—with our whole hearts and a lot of grace.

As a Christian creative, you may often find yourself caught in a paradox. On one side, there's the pressure to create sanitized, idealistic narratives that align with the expectations of the Christian culture. On the other, there's the secular world that often views faith with a degree of skepticism. This unique devotional is designed to inspire and uplift those standing in this creative tension.

This devotional doesn't offer a shortcut or an easy way out of the tension. Instead, it invites you to live within it, to explore it, and to let it shape your art. In doing so, it guides you towards making a meaningful impact through your creativity and faith, serving as a testament to the divine call you have answered as a Christian artist.

Being Beloved

It's the thing we all want to know: that we're really loved. And the good news is we're not only loved, but deeply and truly loved. All the dark shadows in us have been seen and known, and yet we are loved. It draws out the good and commendable in us. It goes against our core fear, which is to find out that we're not really loved and never were and never can be.

The other side of being the Beloved is that we don't have to fight our way to it. We don't need to prove ourselves. We don't earn it. What do we do when we find there's plenty of love for us? That the well won't ever run dry? How does it look to live into the knowing that we are the Beloved?

Subscribe to my Substack newsletter and explore the idea that, as Henri Nouwen put it, "Being the Beloved expresses the core truth of our existence." Let’s learn to own our true identity together, Beloved.
